I'm Joining an old friend's Wedding Tonight as a Single Life
Hi, friend!
First of all, what do you think of my red dress and preparation now?
Tonight I'm slipping into a soft pastel dress, putting on a tiny pair of pearl earrings, and heading out to my friend's wedding. Yep — it’s wedding season again here in Thailand, and I just love the vibes. 🥰
Thai weddings are honestly the sweetest. They usually start early in the morning with a beautiful traditional ceremony — the “kan maak” parade, where the groom walks with family and friends to the bride’s house with gifts and smiles. There's always this mix of laughter, gentle music, jasmine flowers, and lots of aunties taking photos of everyone (especially if you’re single like me — they *notice*, haha 😅).
And in the evening? It’s all about the glam ✨ Big hotel ballroom, flower arches, a cute slideshow of the couple’s love story, and a sea of gorgeous dresses and heels that magically get kicked off by dessert time.
But here’s the thing…
Even though I’m surrounded by lovebirds, sweet speeches, and couples taking selfies together, I don’t feel “left out.” Not even a little bit.
I’m still single. And I’m still smiling.
It’s weird how peaceful I feel about it now. A few years ago, I probably would've stressed out over who I should bring as a plus one or why I’m still walking into weddings solo. But not today. Today I’m just happy — happy for my friend, happy for this moment, and happy to be where I am.
There’s something so freeing about showing up as your whole self, no pressure, no pretending. Just a gym girl who lifts weights in the morning and puts on mascara at night. 😄
I’ve learned that love doesn’t only have to come from a relationship. It’s in the way I treat myself, the way I show up for my friends, and the way I still dance barefoot when no one's watching (okay maybe tonight someone will see, haha!).
Anyway, I should go fix my hair — Thai weddings are also known for their never-ending photo booths. Gotta be ready 😉
Sending you lots of love from the celebration tonight. Whether you're single, taken, or "it’s complicated" — just know that you're enough. Always. 💖
Talk soon, friend. Love is everywhere — especially in you.
